Game Roundup - Win 9 - 8

So, I guess the first two games just weren't cold enough for us. Game time tempature of 37 with scattered ice nuggets was the setting for our first win of 2002. And what a thrilling win it was! Mike Mach scored the winning run in the bottom of the 7th on a wicked shot by Jon that made it exactly 5 feet onto the outfield grass. But, it looks like a shot in the scorebook. Actually, it was raining by then so Jon's hit really looks like an ink smudge in the scorebook! Kudos should also go to Ron, who set up the winning run with a perfectly executed grounder to short (which was booted.)

Highlight

For some reason, we seem to have the number of The Plague. That is 4 consecutive wins against them in the last two years. We actually played very good defense and that is always important. Ron caught a nasty curving liner to right. Don't worry Ron, I don't think the other team saw how big your eyes got when the ball was coming at you.

Of course, this weeks player of the game is Jon. Knocking in the winning run to keep the managers job will do it for you everytime. Paul and I are fighting out for lowest batting average of the year. And, Kyle, keep up the good work. You have the highest batting average (.900) ever recorded after 3 games. Just think how good you could be if you were to drink beer like all the normal softball players?

Line of the day goes out to Mike G this week. After I flawlessly handled an infield popup, he piped in from left field with a "Handled that one just like the catcher you are!" With friends like that who needs.......oh nevermind.
