Game Roundup - Loss 24 - 12

Just a typical mercy. Game tied @ 12 in the bottom of the 6th, and Boatworks proceeds to score 12 runs. We almost averted the mercy, but Kyle's diving stab with 2 outs somehow managed to pop out of the end of his glove. That new weapon might still need a little more oil, huh Kyle. Boatworks scored 10 runs in the 1st and 12 in the 6th, otherwise we shut them down pretty well. We set a Grewe Crewe record with 6 walks in the game, on offense. I'm sure that we have surpassed that many times on defense. I might even have done so the week before. The 6 walks may have been aided by the 30 mph breeze blowing all night. Scott Simmons resumed his pitching duties on an emergency basis, and did quite well, only issueing 3 walks to Boatwork's Eddie Gadell. On the plus side of this game, we found a new bar to go to after the game. The Horseshoe Pit treated us very well. All the salty popcorn we could eat.

Highlight

We managed to get out of the 1st inning with a routine 9-1-5 double play. Cliff notes for that play are:

Kyle fields a base hit to right center and comes up firing to Paul at the plate. Perfect throw. Perfect catch. Perfect tag. Perfect roll around in the dirt for awhile. Paul then hears our calls of "third" and throws to Ed. Perfect throw. Perfect catch. Perfect tag. Serious explative deleted.

This weeks player of the game goes to......ah....I don't remember. For the third time in four games we were treated to the sight of Andy walking out to the game and looking absolutely frozen. Maybe next time, where some stinkin' clothes.

Line of the day goes out to Eddie. After a flawless 5-3 double play, he asked Jon with a genuine concerned look on his face, "I didn't hurt your hand did I?"
